THIS SUMMER: FUN RESTAURANT EVENTS
The weather is getting warmer in Pittsburgh, which means summer is right around the corner! With the beautiful weather, Pittsburgh transforms from sleepy to a bustling hotspot with much needed sunshine! With the Three Rivers Arts Festival officially kicking off the summer season in June, restaurants and bars are already preparing for the coming wave of nightly outings–which easily last into the early hours of the morning. To match Pittsburghers’ summer hustle and bustle, kitchens are staying open later, featuring new special events, and even changing up their happy hour deals. Restaurants all over the city, from Regent Square, the Strip District, downtown, Squirrel Hill, to Garfield have already started to amp up their dining experiences with some of these fun new deals. Here are a couple of our favorites.
Salt of the Earth: $1 Oyster Night
Tuesdays in Garfield means only one thing: $1 oysters at Salt of the Earth. From 10pm to 1am, you can enjoy cheap, delicious oysters late into the night. Perfect for those of us who are stuck working the late shift, but still want to go out for some briny deliciousness afterwards.
Meat and Potatoes: Sunday “Funday” DJ Brunch
In January, Meat and Potatoes decided to put a “spin” on their Sunday brunch options–literally. Every Sunday, the restaurant’s extensive brunch menu is accompanied by a live DJ. What could be better than delicious food, creative cocktails, and awesome tunes? Nothing.
Fukuda: Late Night Menu
Since opening their doors, Fukuda got it right and immediately started a late night menu to feed the hungry masses after work or a solid couple hours at the bar. The kitchen is open until 1am (Friday/Saturdays), offering late-night adventurers mouthwatering menu items in a casual, yet refined atmosphere…even after hours.
Tender Bar + Kitchen: “Lessons in Liquor”
Ever wanted to learn how to spin together a few delicious mixed drinks on your own? Well then, you’re in luck. Bartender Marie Perriello and other Tender Bar + Kitchen bartenders have been offering up on Saturday afternoons cocktail/mixology classes to offer curious Pittsburghers. Tender’s team is confident you’ll leave knowing a few things about your favorite alcohol–and also be able to craft a few cocktails on your own!
E2: Sunday Sauce
The last Sunday of each month, E2 in Highland Park/Morningside invites everyone to come join them for a big, fat, family style dinner. Expect lots of meatballs, red sauce, and wine–$30 per person and no corkage fee! Ching-ching.
Tamari: “Happy Hour- On Any Given Sunday!”
Did you know Tamari extends its exceptional weekday happy hour specials to Sunday. From 5 to 7, enjoy half-price tapas, beer, and cocktails. Who said Sunday shouldn’t be fun?
