The Covid-19 situation is likely the only thing on your mind right now: staying safe, keeping your family safe, and doing your best to keep the numbers low. For small business owners, though, “social distancing” means a whole other batch of tough decisions — closing up shop, waiting it out by doing online sales, and trying to keep their employees at work, among so many other uncertainties.

?Taproom Closed. To-Go sales daily 12pm-8pm. ? In accordance with the state-mandated shutdown of all bars and restaurants in Allegheny County, we will be converting to take out only and closing our taproom for the next two weeks. Starting today (Monday, March 16th) our outdoor trailer will be open daily from 12pm – 8pm for to-go sales of cans and fills of new growlers (used growlers will not be accepted during this time). We will be offering the option to mix your own 4-pack, so you can stock up on all your favorites however you would like. We are hard at work developing online ordering capabilities as well as delivery options. Please stay tuned to our weekly newsletter and social media for more updates. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Stay healthy!

Here at Urbanist, small, local businesses are our passion. They’re why we do what we do, and they’re who we aim to support with each print edition, each social media post, and every single blog post. If Pittsburgh’s small businesses went away, our community would be so much less special.

To help our local small businesses as much as we can during this scary and wild time, we’ve decided to do a number of giveaways that encourage our followers to adapt to small businesses’ changing game plans. We’ll be posting these giveaways sporadically throughout the month as a way to give back to Pittsburgh’s small business community and, hopefully, to keep them afloat during this difficult month.

To our family of supporters and our supporters who are family: Allegheny County is requesting that all nonessential business close for the next two weeks, with some exceptions, suggesting restaurants to operate with only takeout and delivery. Starting Monday, March 16th, both locations will not be seating for dine-in but are available for take out and delivery. Take out orders can be put in online through our website or called in directly to the restaurants. Delivery is also available through our menu on our website! **Gluten free pizza will be available daily. You will also be able to purchase pints of gelato** We would appreciate if you could call in the order or do it online to prevent more than 10 people in the restaurant at a time. We will even run the food out to your car. I ask that you please share this with family, friends or anyone who needs to eat! I hope we are able to do enough take outs and deliveries to keep my team working. When you support small business you are supporting the team behind the small business and they’re basically the same thing. #teammakesthedream #eatmorepizza #andgelato #gelato #mercuriospgh #pizza #pittsburghpizza #pittsburgh #takeout @ellebeestudios

Here’s how to participate:

1. Follow @urbanistpgh on Instagram

2. Watch out for our giveaway posts — they’ll happen sporadically throughout the month, but likely a few times a week.

3. When we post a giveaway, you’ll need to follow the business we’re supporting that day and tag a friend in the comments. That’s it! We’ll choose a winner at random and announce it the following day.

Oh, and one more thing: SUPPORT LOCAL! Even aside from this fun, lighthearted giveaway, it’s so important to continue to shop local, whether it’s through food delivery, e-retail from your favorite boutique or even grabbing dog food from the pet store down the street. Keep an eye out for another blog post later in the week with some ideas for shopping small from the comfort of your home.

Hey gang! We hope everyone is hanging in there ?. . Out of an OVER abundance of caution & to encourage social distancing, we have made the decision to close our physical location to the general public for the next two weeks as we evaluate the current situation.  We feel this is a prudent decision to guarantee the health & safety of our staff & guests, at this time. . In other news, our online store is open for business. We are also closely monitoring our social channels, email.. all the places, to provide our products & services to anyone. Our staff will still be available, digitally, to serve our community – curbside pick-up, private scheduled shopping appointments. . Over the next week, we’ll be working on enhancing our website & possibly some on-demand delivery options – stay tuned! . Know we love you all & are SO thankful for your small business support – Stay safe, gang ❤️. . . .
