If design isn’t your thing (why is that again?), then just be thankful that Butler Street’s latest edition isn’t another rolled ice cream shop or restaurant with edison bulbs.  If you are into design (yay!), then you are in for a treat.  While Black Cherry Design’s business isn’t new (they opened up in 2014), their beautiful new storefront and showroom at 3701 Butler St is and ready for you to pop in!

Started by Lauren Piasecki and Stan Adamik, the new stop is filled with local brands like Savannah Hayes textiles, local exclusives with national brands Dwell Studio and Louis Gray with one of a kind vintage pieces also are sprinkled into the mix.  While everything on their floor is for sale (and you can take it home that day), they shop also offers custom orders for the many of their pieces that come in a rangeof color, fabric and style.

What we loved about the new space was the mix of modern look with function.   While many of the items like the black painted teak root table and patchwork Eames style chair are statement pieces, they aren’t so precious that they can’t be used in everyday living.  There is nothing worst than going to a friend’s house and being told you can sit on the couch cause demin might stain it. Well, maybe the answer is to skip the white linen couch for the beautiful tufted brown leather one at Black Cherry!

The duo draws on their experiences outside of PGH (both spent time in Atlanta) as well as their knowledge of their hometown to stock their shop.  ‘We wanted a mix of things both local and missing from the market,’ says Piasecki. Expect the store is to be an evolution as well with new pieces coming in and out with the seasons which will include a mix of smaller gift items like the Brooklyn-based Joya Studio candles, ultra soft throws and more.

So let’s recap.  No edison bulbs, beautiful furniture, go visit them today.
