Situated above Lorelei (one of our new favorite spots) in an intimate, appointment-only showroom, Commonwealth Proper creates custom menswear made entirely in the USA. The space itself is enough to set buying a suit here apart from buying a suit anywhere else in Pittsburgh; with moody black walls, a killer music selection and a well-stocked bar, Commonwealth Proper ups the cool factor of the typical fitting process.

Outlets like the Wall Street Journal have taken notice, featuring Commonwealth Proper’s Pittsburgh store and other locations in Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Los Angeles among what they call “A new guard of millennial tailors […] reinventing the fusty art of bespoke menswear, and removing the intimidation factor.” While the brand’s roots will always be in custom tailoring, they’re now designing seasons of ready-to-wear shirts, accessories and tailored garments, with the latest collection launching this spring.

On Wednesday, April 3, Urbanist is excited to partner with both Commonwealth Proper and Studebaker Metals, another one of our favorite Pittsburgh brands, to announce Commonwealth Proper’s Spring/Summer 2019 ready-to-wear collection. Normally by appointment only, the showroom will welcome guests to try on pieces from the new collection and shop Studebaker’s hand-forged hard goods and metal accessories, all while enjoying complimentary spirits from Dewar’s and Boyd & Blair.

We can’t think of a better way to break up your work week than with impeccably tailored goods, locally made metal wares and a free drink in hand, so we hope to see you there!
